The Florence P. Haseltine Award

Each year at the annual meeting, the OSSD presents the Florence P. Haseltine awards for the best poster presentations by new investigators (student, postdoc, or resident).

Florence P. Haseltine, MD, PhD, is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and an expert in reproductive endocrinology, and is currently principal of Haseltine Systems. Dr. Haseltine founded the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) in 1990, was the founding editor of the Journal of Women's Health. She is Director Emerita of the Center for Population Research, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at NIH, the world's largest program of research in the population sciences. Dr. Haseltine received her PhD in Biophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Haseltine manages the data collection and dissemination for the RAISE project housed at the SWHR. She has been recognized for her contributions in the field of women's health & reproductive science by being elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 1993 and serving on the nominating committee from 2005 -2009, where she organized and automated Section 5's straw poll. She has worked with the IOM to establish review panel evaluating the fields of Ob/Gyn, Sex Differences and Contraceptive Science, all of which have been published. In addition she is a Weizmann Honored Scientist; a Kass Lecturer; a recipient of the American Women's Medical Association Scientist Award; a recipient of The Kilby Award; the Advocacy Award from Research; America for the Society for Women's Health Research; and a recipient of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Distinguished Service Award and the Lifetime Achievement award from the United Nations Fund for Population Affairs; a member of other professional societies; & the author of publications in her fields. Her current activities include developing mobile Apps for the field of Reproductive Sciences and her latest app "Embryo" has been selected for highlighting on gsa.gov and has received a group award from the National Library of Medicine.

Dr. Haseltine is also a Founding Member of OSSD.  Dr. Haseltine has always demonstrated a tremendous enthusiasm for encouraging and mentoring young scientists.
